Message from the Chairman
Joint Ventures are one of the most effective delivery mechanisms for bird conservation in the U.S., and the PLJV with its diverse partnership, all-bird focus and comprehensive implementation strategy is making significant progress in its mission to conserve bird habitats in the playa lakes region. Partnerships are central to the success of the PLJV, which benefits from the participation from a wide array of private corporations and citizens, conservation organizations, and state and federal agencies. This multi-sector profile allows the PLJV to serve the interests of landowners, educators, resource managers and biologists as we develop conservation projects in the playas, wetlands and prairies of Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. The Colorado Division of Wildlife has embraced the partner-oriented approach of Joint Ventures and sees our agency’s involvement with the PLJV as a great opportunity for delivering on-the-ground, all-bird conservation across this region of the country. I began my term as PLJV chairman in January 2007 and I am very excited about being a part of this dynamic and successful Joint Venture.
