Strategic Bird Habitat Conservation
The PLJV works to make bird habitat conservation more efficient and effective. Our suite of biological planning tools help wildlife agencies, conservation groups and other partners design conservation programs and strategies that result in the greatest benefits to birds. These tools are based on the best available avian and geospatial data, and are subject to rigorous review and revision. Since our inception, we have helped dozens of organizations carry out strategic bird habitat conservation within our planning region.
Planning Tools
The PLJV has developed a set of planning tools to determine how much and where bird conservation should go to reach national and international bird population goals. The PLJV works with a variety of partners to help target, evaluate and design strategic bird habitat conservation programs. These include, but are not limited to: the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, The Nature Conservancy, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service and state wildlife agencies.
