Welcome to the Playa Country Radio Series... a weekly program produced by the PLJV and Boy/Girl Audio and aired on High Plains Public Radio and other rural radio stations across the Joint Venture region. Playa Country features the people, partnerships and programs that are making a difference in the conservation of wildlife habitat in the PLJV region. April 27, 2009: Noise in Nature
As humans, we make a lot of noise - from our transportation to our manufacturing and industry. All of this noise can be annoying to us, but all of these sounds can also be disruptive to birds' feeding and hunting behavior. Steve Bird, Wildlife Biologist for the Bureau of Land Management, is working with industry in New Mexico to minimize the affect human-produced noise is having on natural bird habitats.
