The Playa Lakes Joint Venture (PLJV) has been involved in creating several maps and decision support tools to help with efforts to conserve the Lesser Prairie-Chicken.

Lesser Prairie-Chicken Occupied Range Map

Lesser Prairie-Chicken Current RangeThe Lesser Prairie-Chicken Interstate Working Group maintains a map of the estimated occupied range of the Lesser Prairie-Chicken. It incorporates information regarding both lek and movement locations of the species across the range.

The group — comprised of biologists from each of the five state wildlife agencies within the species’ range (Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Western Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies — updates the range boundary as new information from lek surveys are completed.
